Tallulah Gorge

State Park - Georgia, United States

One of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern United States, this nearly 1,000-foot deep, two-mile long gorge was carved by the Tallulah River. Five waterfalls cascade through the chasm, visible from rim overlooks and a suspension bridge swaying 80 feet above the rocky bottom. Only 100 permits daily allow hikers to descend over 1,000 steps to the gorge floor.
