State Park - Georgia, United States
This 1,725-acre park preserves the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy, built in 1861 to protect Savannah. The sand and mud earthworks successfully repelled seven Union naval attacks before falling to Sherman's forces in December 1864. A Civil War museum displays artifacts, while nature trails wind through live oaks, Spanish moss, and salt marsh along the Ogeechee River.
