Wilderness Area - Nova Scotia, Canada
Archibald Lake Wilderness Area protects 687 hectares of woodlands, lakes, and wetlands in Guysborough County, including three central lakes: Archibald Lake, McDonald Lake, and Rocky Lake. The Archibald Brook watershed features well-drained hardwood drumlins with nearly 300 hectares of old-growth hardwood forest as defined by Nova Scotia's Old-Growth Forest Policy. The area provides critical habitat for brook trout, Atlantic salmon, and endangered mainland moose. It contains 37 rare species, including seven listed under the Endangered Species Act. Three existing campsite leases on Archibald Lake are preserved with vehicle access maintained to all three lakes.
