Sunset Crater Volcano

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument preserves a 900-year-old cinder cone and its surrounding lava field in northern Arizona. The monument showcases the dramatic volcanic landscape created by the most recent volcanic eruption in the San Francisco Volcanic Field. Managed by the National Park Service, it offers visitors a chance to explore lava tubes, cinder fields, and unique desert vegetation that has adapted to the volcanic soil.
