Wilderness Area - Nova Scotia, Canada
Chase Lake Wilderness Area protects 873 hectares of older forest in Cumberland County west of Oxford, representing the Chignecto Ridged Plain Natural Landscape. The protected patch consists of late and early-successional hardwoods, red spruce, and balsam fir ecosystems. The wilderness area was officially designated on August 8, 2018, under Nova Scotia's Wilderness Areas Protection Act to preserve this important forest ecosystem and support biodiversity conservation across the province's protected areas network.
