Wilderness Area - Nova Scotia, Canada
Protects rugged conifer forest wilderness richly endowed with lakes, waterways, and wildlife in eastern Halifax Regional Municipality between Ship Harbour and Mooseland. Features expansive spruce, white pine, and balsam fir forests interrupted by barrens, bogs, and numerous lakes. Tangier Grand Lake is the largest of Nova Scotia's lakes without direct road access. The region was named 'Wospegeak' by the Mi'kmaq, meaning 'sunshine is reflected from water.' Well known for trout fishing and canoe-tripping opportunities.
