Wilderness Area - Nova Scotia, Canada
Humes River Wilderness Area encompasses 3,625 hectares of exceptionally scenic terrain featuring steep river canyons, hardwood forests, and highland barrens in Inverness and Victoria counties. The area protects one of the last relatively large tracts of intact Acadian forest in the Bras d'Or Lake watershed, including impressive stands of red spruce, eastern hemlock, and old-growth hardwood. It provides critical habitat for endangered American marten and lynx.
