Natural Area - Alberta, Canada
Features the most extensive and diverse areas of native upland prairie vegetation remaining in the Peace region. The distinctive Kleskun Hills rise approximately 100 metres above surrounding plains and contain layers of clay, sandstone and coal exposed in Alberta's northernmost badlands, dating back to the age of the dinosaurs. The site includes grassland and parkland species including western meadowlarks, upland sandpipers, vesper sparrows, prickly pear cactus, and various wildflowers.
