Caribou River Natural Area

Natural Area - Alberta, Canada

Mesic shrubby grassland interspersed with aspen groves on alluvial terraces of Caribou River. Features dry south-facing grassland on escarpment of Peace River with shrublands of buckbush and rose and meander scars. Represents remnant grassland of the Peace River Parkland Sub-region and functions as an ungulate winter range and migration corridor between the Peace River and Caribou Mountains.
