Moraine Hills

State Park - Illinois, United States

Opened in October 1976. Initial McHenry Dam State Park land acquisition was 15 acres in 1939. Major acquisition of Lake Defiance area began in 1971. Roughly half of the park's 2,200 acres are wetlands and lakes.
