Wilderness Protection Area - South Australia, Australia
Protecting important offshore island habitat west of the Eyre Peninsula, this wilderness area encompasses the Ward Islands, Top Gallant Isles, and Pearson Isles. Proclaimed in 2011 to protect Australian sea lion and New Zealand fur seal haul-out areas, the islands also provide critical nesting habitat for white-faced storm petrels, Cape Barren geese, and the endemic Pearson Island black-footed rock-wallaby. Great white sharks frequent the surrounding waters to feed on the seal colonies.
