About Meinmahla Kyun
Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary protects mangrove forest on an island in the Ayeyarwady Delta within Bogale Township, near the Bay of Bengal. Gazetted in 1993, it is one of the largest remaining mangrove areas in Myanmar and was designated the country fourth Ramsar Site in 2017, as well as an ASEAN Heritage Park. The sanctuary shelters saltwater crocodiles, Irrawaddy dolphins, the critically endangered mangrove terrapin, lesser adjutant storks, and a wide range of resident and migratory waterbirds.
