About Thamihla Kyun
Thamihla Kyun, also known as Diamond Island, is a small wildlife sanctuary on an uninhabited island in the Bay of Bengal off the mouth of the Pathein River, in Ngapudaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region. Designated in 1970 and managed by the Forest Department, it is one of Myanmar most important sea turtle nesting sites, hosting green, olive ridley, loggerhead, hawksbill, and leatherback turtles. Tens of thousands of turtle eggs are laid on its sandy beaches each year, making it a globally significant breeding ground despite its small size.
