Nikolicë

Nikolicë Protected Landscape protects mountain forests and landscapes near the town of Nikolicë in Korçë County, eastern Albania. The protected area encompasses mountain woodland and associated habitats contributing to biodiversity conservation in the highland areas east of the Korçë basin.

The forest supports roe deer, wild boar, and foxes. Forest birds include various woodpeckers and songbirds typical of Balkan mountain woodlands. Small mammals inhabit the forest floor and canopy.

Deciduous forests with beech and oak form the main vegetation. The understory includes characteristic Balkan woodland herbs and shrubs. Forest clearings maintain grassland diversity.

The terrain consists of mountain slopes on geological substrates supporting forest development. The varied topography creates microclimates and habitat diversity.
