Poiana Curatura

Poiana Curatura (Clean Meadow) is a Landscape Reserve in Moldova's Soldanesti District, protecting a section of the Dniester valley landscape featuring forest, steppe grassland, and meadow habitats in central-eastern Moldova. The reserve preserves the natural vegetation mosaic of the Dniester's right bank where varied topography supports diverse plant communities. The name references the meadow clearings within the forested landscape that have traditionally been maintained by natural processes and light human management.

The habitat mosaic of forest, meadow, and steppe supports diverse fauna combining species from different ecological communities. Woodland mammals including roe deer and foxes share the landscape with open-country species. The bird community reflects the habitat diversity with both forest and grassland species present.

The vegetation includes deciduous forest on slopes, steppe grassland on exposed ridges, and meadow communities in the clearings that give the reserve its name. The diversity of habitats creates high overall species richness with both woodland and grassland flora represented.
