Lachipora Wildlife Sanctuary lies on the north bank of the Jhelum River in Baramulla district, forming part of the greater Kazinag conservation landscape near the Line of Control. It protects critical habitat for the endangered Pir Panjal markhor, Himalayan brown bear, and musk deer across steep coniferous and alpine slopes.
