About Marianas Trench Volcanic Unit
The Volcanic Unit (Mariana Arc of Fire National Wildlife Refuge) protects submerged lands within one nautical mile of 21 undersea mud volcanoes and hydrothermal vents along the Mariana Arc, including the Champagne vent and the Daikoku volcano with its pool of molten sulfur. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
