About Funafuti

A marine and island conservation area covering reef, lagoon, channel and six islets on the western side of Funafuti atoll, formally declared by Order in 1999. It protects coral reefs, fish populations, green sea turtle nesting beaches and a black noddy breeding colony, and is the flagship protected area of Tuvalu.
