Phu Suan Sai

Phu Suan Sai National Park covers about 117 km² in Na Haeo District, Loei Province, about 120 km west of Loei city, with the Mekong River forming its northern edge across from Laos. It was established in 1994^[1].

Mammals include serow, dhole, common muntjac, sambar deer, mouse deer and palm civet. Birds include great hornbill, blue-naped pitta, short-tailed parrotbill and rufous-throated fulvetta^[1].

The park holds tropical rainforest on mountain slopes, with elevations from 600 to 1,400 m^[1].

The park is a mountain area with rock formations, one of which, Hin Si Thit, is held sacred locally^[1].

Its highland elevations make it cooler than the Mekong valley below, with a hot, rainy and cool season cycle across northern Loei.

Hin Si Thit, a rock formation in the park, is considered sacred locally and is a pilgrimage site^[1].

The park was established in 1994 and is managed by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation as an IUCN Category II area^[1].

Khing Waterfall has five tiers, Tat Pha Waterfall is 60 m high and Tat Hueang Waterfall is 50 m high; Hin Si Thit is a pilgrimage rock^[1].
