About Henderson Island
A raised coral atoll inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, one of the last two such atolls on Earth whose ecosystems remain largely undisturbed by humans. It is internationally significant for its endemic species, including four flightless or unique land birds (Henderson fruit dove, lorikeet, reed warbler and crake) and numerous endemic plants and invertebrates.
