About Kiritimati
The world's largest coral atoll by land area, designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1975 (first gazetted a bird sanctuary in 1960). It hosts globally important seabird colonies and the endemic Christmas Island warbler, with several lagoon islets managed as restricted closed areas.
