Bison (Rajbari)

Rajbari (Bison) National Park lies inside Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary in southern Tripura near Belonia, covering about 31.63 km²^[1]. It was established in 2007 to protect the Indian gaur^[1].

Mammals include Indian gaur, deer, golden langur, gibbon, wild boar, wild cats and leopard, and birds include pheasant-tailed jacana, hornbill and jungle myna^[1]. A census counted about 105 gaur in the sanctuary^[2].

Four forest types occur: tropical semi-evergreen, East Himalayan lower Bhabar sal, moist mixed deciduous and savannah woodland, with abundant bamboo, a favourite gaur food^[1]. About 230 tree species have been counted^[1].

The park lies in the low hills of southern Tripura, drained by rivulets and water bodies^[1].

Southern Tripura has a humid subtropical climate with a heavy monsoon.

The park lies near Belonia in southern Tripura, within the Trishna sanctuary landscape.

The bison park was set up in 2007 inside Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary to restore gaur habitat and strengthen protection against poachers^[1].

The attraction is gaur, langurs and birdlife in sal and bamboo forest^[1].

Belonia is the nearest town, about 15 km away.

The park protects the gaur, listed as Vulnerable, and strengthens anti-poaching law^[1]. The gaur herd has grown, with five calves seen in a later census^[2].
