About Pere Marquette State Park
Founded in 1931 as Piasa Bluffs State Park, soon renamed. The park (2,605.90 acres) and conservation area (2,574 acres) were acquired by the state in 1932, later combined with additional parcels to reach approximately 8,000 acres. Largest state park in Illinois by area. Located near Grafton at the confluence of the Mississippi and Illinois rivers.
