About Bajos del Norte
The largest Natural Protected Area in the Gulf of Mexico at 1.3 million hectares, located 240 km from Puerto Progreso in the Campeche Bank. Protects critical reef ecosystems that harbor 679 marine species including grouper, sea turtles, corals, sponges, mollusks, and crustaceans. Forms a conservation corridor with Arrecife Alacranes National Park.
