The park provides picnic areas, fishing access, and a popular dog park in a beautiful setting of oak woodlands and riparian forest. The site serves as a convenient escape from the nearby cities of Medford and Central Point.

Wildlife Ecosystems

The Rogue River corridor supports diverse wildlife including deer, beaver, and river otter. The river hosts salmon and steelhead during spawning runs. Great blue herons fish along the banks while ospreys and bald eagles hunt overhead. Oak woodlands provide habitat for acorn woodpeckers and western scrub-jays.

The park features beautiful Oregon white oak woodland, an increasingly rare habitat in the developed valley. Riparian vegetation along the river includes willows, cottonwoods, and Oregon ash. Native grasses and wildflowers grow in meadow areas. The vegetation reflects the warm, dry climate of the Rogue Valley.

Geology
