About Bass River

Bass River State Recreation Area is located in Ottawa County in western Michigan, providing outdoor recreation opportunities near the rapidly growing Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The recreation area encompasses over 1,600 acres of forest, wetlands, and open space along the Bass River and its tributaries near the Lake Michigan shore.

Wildlife Ecosystems

The diverse habitats support white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, and red foxes. The wetlands attract waterfowl including wood ducks, mallards, and great blue herons.
