About Qaummaarviit Territorial Park
Meaning 'the place that shines', named for mica-bearing rocks on the island. Located 12 km west of Iqaluit in Peterhead Inlet. The island is thought to have been inhabited by the Thule people in the early 13th century. Accessible by boat from Iqaluit (30-45 minutes). No camping permitted on the island. Important archaeological site.
