About Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park
Pinawa Dam Provincial Park is located north of Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada, on Provincial Road 520, overlooking the Pinawa Channel. The park was designated a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba in 1985. The park lies in the heart of 'Cottage Country' on the Pinawa Channel/Winnipeg River system, on the edge of the Canadian Shield. The park commemorates and contains the ruins of Manitoba's first year-round hydro generating plant, the Pinawa Dam, which began operating in 1906 and was closed in 1951.
