About Onkaparinga River
Located 32km south of Adelaide, this park protects the spectacular Onkaparinga Gorge along South Australia's second longest river. Rugged ridge tops, the narrow river valley, and rare remnant vegetation characterize the landscape, which was traditionally inhabited by the Kaurna people. Twenty-seven native orchid species have been recorded, and koalas, kangaroos, and echidnas roam freely. Sixteen walking trails explore cliff tops with magnificent views and permanent rock pools teeming with life.
