About Nopiming Provincial Park
Nopiming Provincial Park is a natural provincial park situated in southeastern Manitoba along the Ontario border. The park preserves areas that are representative of the Lac Seul Upland portion of the Precambrian Boreal Forest natural region. The landscape consists primarily of boreal forest and Canadian Shield terrain with over 700 lakes and numerous rivers. The park features gravel roads, camping facilities, hiking trails, and a few cottages, though it remains very remote. Notable wildlife includes the most southern herd of woodland caribou, as well as black bears and bald eagles. Key lakes include Beresford Lake and Booster Lake. Beresford Lake has a 28-site campground surrounded by forest composed of jack pine, poplar, tamarack, larch, black spruce, and birch. The park's name derives from Anishinaabe/Saulteaux language, translating to either 'in the woods/brush' or 'Entrance to the Wilderness.'
