About Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary - Winaityinaityi Pangkara
Spanning over 60km of coastline north of Adelaide along Gulf St Vincent, this sanctuary protects critical habitat for migratory shorebirds on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Over 52 shorebird species have been recorded, including endangered curlew sandpipers and red knots that travel annually from Siberia and Alaska. The park preserves pristine saltmarsh and wetland ecosystems that support approximately 27,000 birds, making it internationally significant for conservation.
