State Heritage Area - Oregon, United States
Sumpter Valley Dredge State Heritage Area preserves one of the largest and most accessible gold dredges in the United States. The massive dredge ran almost continuously, 24 hours a day, from 1935 until 1954, extracting over $4 million in gold. The park features tours of the dredge, a museum with historic photos and artifacts, and interpretive programs about Oregon's gold mining history.
