National Wildlife Area - New Brunswick, Canada
Located along the Bay of Fundy 46km from Moncton, this internationally recognized Ramsar Wetland hosts one of nature's most spectacular migrations - millions of semipalmated sandpipers that descend on the mudflats during fall migration. The Shorebird Discovery Centre serves as the visitor hub, open daily 9am-5pm from July through September, offering interpretation programming for all ages from late June to August. Three separate units (Mary's Point, New Horton, Germantown Marsh) provide diverse coastal habitats including salt marshes, forested peninsulas, sand beaches, rocky cliffs, and restored wetlands. Visitors can hike designated trails, observe Arctic shorebirds refueling before their journey to South America, photograph wildlife, and learn about the world's highest tides. This 1,069-hectare sanctuary is ideal for birders, families, and anyone interested in world-class shorebird migration.
