National Wildlife Area - New Brunswick, Canada
Strategically located at the Confederation Bridge connecting New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island, this 621-hectare refuge makes an excellent stop for travelers on one of Canada's major tourist routes. The site encompasses extraordinary ecosystem variety including salt marshes, sand dunes, barrier beaches, and upland forests, providing sanctuary for approximately 170 native and migratory bird species. Visitors enjoy a full interpretation center, accessible trails, food services, craft shop, and museum, along with diverse activities from wildlife observation and beachcombing to swimming, boating, and winter sports. The historic 1869 lighthouse adds cultural interest.
