Réserve faunique La Vérendrye

Wildlife Reserve - Quebec, Canada

Largest SEPAQ wildlife reserve. Originally created in 1939 as Réserve de la Route-Mont-Laurier–Senneterre. Became a park in 1950, named after explorer Pierre Gaultier de Varennes et de La Vérendrye. Downgraded to wildlife reserve in 1979. Contains over 4,000 lakes and rivers, including Cabonga and Dozois reservoirs. Located 180 km north of Ottawa, traversed by Route 117.
