About Jinshan Three Islands
Shanghai's first marine ecological nature reserve, established in 1991 in Hangzhou Bay off Jinshan District. It protects three bedrock islands (Dajinshan, Xiaojinshan and Fushan) plus surrounding waters, preserving primitive island vegetation and rare plants long extinct on the Shanghai mainland — the city's largest native plant gene bank. Access is permit-controlled for research and supervised observation.
